About the Artist
Welcome to my Gallery
I am Michael Bayé (bah-yeh).

Artist Statement
Living around major cities with divine buildings and sensational people in the US has influenced my painting style, and inspires me to document these subjects through impressionistic paintings. In the book of Exodus 31:1-11 God chose Bezalel and “filled him with the Spirit of God, in wisdom, in understanding, in knowledge, and in all manner of workmanship, to design artistic works”. Being a person that believes the Holy Spirit is within me; I have a gift. In the book of James 1:17 “Every good gift and every perfect gift is from above, and comes down from the Father of lights, with whom there is no variation or shadow of turning”. With that verse in mind the particular subjects of my paintings are the inconsequential moments of daily life that are seldom noticed; people enjoying the sunlight at a café, people waiting for taxi’s, people walking the rainy streets of the urban landscape. It is the manner in which light pours onto the subject that captivates me. I create my paintings by letting the light and shadow carve out the forms of the subjects to make abstract shapes that when viewed will seam three dimensional on the painting surface.
I am a classically trained artist with knowledge in many mediums. I primarily favor painting with oil paint for the thick, rich visible brush strokes it provides. I paint people and figures in an impressionist style to convey an emotional connection to the luxuriant natural environment.
I paint in my studio using reference photos gathered from my travels to many cities for my subjects. Each of my paintings is a moment in time that I may reflect upon. Each painting depicts my own private refuge. I hope to share with others the peace and serenity I feel when I paint; where God is glorified by natural depiction of His creations.
